The National Medical Commission does not approve or endorse individual foreign universities. What it does is set out criteria, the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations of 2021, that your foreign medical education must meet if you want to register and practise in India. Here is how the GRUNI MD lines up, with the points you should confirm yourself.
A single, unified degree. GRUNI awards one Doctor of Medicine degree, taken as a continuous course, which is what the regulations expect.
Course length. The program runs a full six years, comfortably above the minimum duration the regulations set for the medical course.
English medium. The entire course for international students is taught and examined in English.
Internship and registration. The regulations expect an internship and the ability to register as a physician in the country of study. Ask the admissions office how the clinical clerkship and internship are arranged, and confirm current rules on nmc.org.in.
FMGE or NExT. To practise in India you must clear the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, moving to the National Exit Test as it is introduced. No university can waive this; a good one prepares you for it.
